Stan Valdez, P.E.

President

Mr. Valdez joined VSO Petroleum Consultants in June 2011 and specializes in providing consulting engineering and advisory services to E&P and financial firms, with a focus on property evaluation, drilling prospect evaluation and field and play studies. Stan has managed field operations and has driven capital allocation decisions both in E&P and private equity roles.

Representative Experience / Projects:

  • Field Operations – Managed operations, vendors, and field personnel for various inland water fields in South Louisiana. Operations included the diagnostics of oil and gas well performance, managing workover and completion programs and designing and modifying gathering, compression, and disposal facilities.
  • Offshore / Conventional Reservoir Analysis – Provided numerous evaluations associated with the exploration and / or exploitation of conventional reservoirs located in the Gulf of Mexico (deep and shallow waters) and the gulf coast region of Texas and Louisiana on behalf of E&P and Private Equity clients. Analysis typically includes the computation of recoverable hydrocarbon volumes by characterizing the bulk reservoir volume, fluid contacts and structural barriers using geologic interpretations from subsurface data or seismic, in concert with petrophysics from available well logs. Proficient in estimating probabilistic reserves as well as deterministic estimates using volumetric or material balance methods.
  • Property Evaluation for Acquisitions – Directly participated in the evaluation of over 200 oil and gas acquisitions with deal sizes larger than $100 million and numerous additional evaluations of smaller deals. Typical workflow includes the preparation of production forecasts, evaluation of midstream and / or royalty income, review of commercial drivers (such as operating expenses, differentials and marketing and contracts), as well as evaluating the quality and quantity of remaining drilling inventory.
  • Year-End Reserves Reporting – Directly participated in over 150 year-end, mid-year or project specific reserves reports and / or reserves audits. All reports were prepared in accordance with the Standards Pertaining to the Estimating and Auditing of Oil and Gas Reserve Information as set forth by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and in accordance with SEC and / or PRMS reserves definitions and classification systems. These reports were generally prepared on behalf of the owners of oil and gas assets for the purpose of regulatory reporting, lending requirements or the fulfilment of contractual obligations associated with various partnership agreements.
